Nonprofit organization founded in July 2000 for the sole purpose of implementing a safe and swift Singularity. The Institute is titled "for Artificial Intelligence" because the founders and much of the community sees AI as the easiest Singularity technology to accelerate and influence positively, in comparison to other Singularity technologies.
