Femto-scale machines and structures. A femtometer is a millionth billionth of a meter. Femtomachines could literally transform iron into gold or hydrogen into uranium via manipulation of the fundamental particles in the atom’s nucleus and electron cloud. Femtotech machines would require quarks or still smaller particles as building blocks and moving parts. If femtotech ever becomes technological feasible, it could become practical to emulate entire civilizations using only small groups of atoms. Very Speculative.
