Definition Of Terms

This page was created by an embarassed newbie struggling to understanding all the terminology, in a retrospective attempt to make good.

• RPOP : Really Powerful Optimisation Process. A non-sentient AGI.
• FAI : Friendly AI
• Friendliness : A concept like Morality. An abstract invariant representing moral belief. Invariance across time and intelligence.
• Supergoal : Uncertain as to whether this is a technical term as well as a conceptual one. Like Kant's Categorical Imperative in one sense - a goal from which AGI forms its other goals; a reward structure for motivating behaviour; A way of describing goals as being "top level". Possibly invariant goals.

Welcome to SL4.

Most of the terminology that you are "struggling to understand" is explained in a "newbie-friendly" way in SL4 Lexicon and Glossary. After you check those out, if you have any questions that you weren't able to answer on your own, you can post them here, or in the sl4 IRC chatroom, #sl4. There is usually someone around who is willing to answer questions.
