Computing System Advantages
From The Transhumanist Wiki
Design and functional advantages of computing systems over the human brain:
- They are easier to design (at least for humans).
- They have more design freedom (easier to change, to correct errors, to add new hardware)
- They can be scaled better, more money buys more hardware.
- They are easier to improve, while our brain’s specificity—the result of gradual, reiterative design by evolution—is essentially fixed.
- They function, in principle, 24/7/365.
- They perform complex tasks without mistakes caused by loss of attention, energy, focus, or memory.
- They perform repetitive tasks without getting bored.
- They perform tasks at greater serial speeds than human neurons or deliberate thought.
- Their states of thought can be replicated completely.
- They can have perfect introspection (think total recall in slow motion).
- Their mental imagery can have the same level of detail as their actual perceptions.
