Self-guided neurosurgery, for the purpose of genuine intelligence enhancement. The benefits of performing neurosurgery on oneself rather than with the assistant of a helper would increase rapidly, after a certain level of intelligence were attained. Through these means, and if no unpassable bottlenecks were encountered, the autoneurosurgeon could theoretically bootstrap his/herself to superintelligence. However, most Singularity analysts consider the arrival of seed AI to be more likely in the near future, not to mention to ethical issues surrounding extreme neurosurgery. Non-Speculative.
