Altruism

altruism:

True altruism means helping others without desire for personal gain in any form. Altruism requires that there is "no want for material, physical, spiritual, or egoistic gain" (http://barbaria.com/god/philosophy/zen/glossary.htm). Altruism is a moral philosophy whereby all sentients, and their respective moralities, are equally valued. Altruism is a complex type of behavior that requires the ability to model what other minds want, and the intelligence to fulfill those wants in ways these minds want them to be fulfilled.
